Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part

1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents". Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 17678.1-1999 "Requirements for CD-ROM Storage, Archiving and Record Management of CAD Electronic Files - Part

1.Electronic Files". Sub-file archiving and record management" and GB/T 17678.2-1999 "Requirements for CD-ROM storage, archiving and record management of CAD electronic files" Part Two. Optical Disc Information Organization Structure, compared with GB/T 17678.1-1999 and GB/T 17678.2-1999, except for structural adjustments and compilation... Aside from the logical changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

a) Necessary terms and definitions have been changed (see Chapter 3, Chapter 3 of GB/T 17678.1-1999);

b) Added "Abbreviations" (see Chapter 4);

c) The wording of the "General Provisions" section has been revised (see Chapter 5, Chapter 4 of GB/T 17678.1-1999);

d) Added "Responsibilities" (see Chapter 6);

e) Added requirements related to "formation and components" (see Chapter 7);

f) Added "Metadata Management" (see Chapter 8);

g) The requirements regarding "archiving formats" have been changed (see Chapter 9, Chapter 5 of GB/T 17678.2-1999);

h) Added "CAD Electronic File Format Conversion" (see Chapter 10);

i) The specific requirements regarding "collection" have been changed (see Chapter 11, Chapter 5 of GB/T 17678.1-1999);

j) The requirements related to "organization and archiving handover" have been revised (see Chapter 12, Chapter 6 of GB/T 17678.1-1999);

k) Added requirements related to authenticity, integrity, security, and usability testing, and changed the requirements related to archiving verification (see 12.6). GB/T 17678.1-1999, 6.4);

1 Scope

GB/T 17678-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering archiving CAD files - the formats that will still open in thirty years, the metadata and the relationships between models, drawings and assemblies, the fixing of a version as the archival record and the migration when a format dies. It replaces GB/T 17678.1-1999, under the National Archives Administration. It was issued on 31 December 2025 and has been in force since 1 July 2026, replacing GB/T 17678.1-1999. This page is published from the official record of the 2025 edition; the clause text of a standard this recent is not yet in circulation, and the figures, limits and tables it contains are those of the document itself, delivered in full with the English translation.

This document specifies the general requirements, division of responsibilities, and procedures for the creation, collection, and organization of CAD electronic files. General requirements and methods for the handling, archiving, transfer, and management of archives. This document applies to the archiving and management of mechanical CAD electronic files; other CAD electronic file archiving and management should refer to this document.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 CAD system A computer information system that generates or manages CAD data.

3.2 CAD electronic records Various information records in digital format generated, processed, transmitted and stored by the CAD system (3.1).

3.3 CAD electronic files based on a data model of three spatial dimensions. length, width, and height.

Note. CAD 3D electronic files generally include a geometric model (3.5) and attribute information (3.6).

3.4 CAD electronic records CAD electronic files that have evidentiary, reference and preservation value and are archived (3.2).
