GB/T 37087-2018 is the English-translated version of 邮票鉴别技术条件.

GB/T 37087-2018 sets out how stamps are examined to tell genuine items from fake or fabricated ones. It applies to stamps, pre-stamped envelopes and postcards and other postage certificates issued by Chinese postal enterprises with government approval.

It defines the terms used in the field, among them postage stamp, fake stamp, fabricated stamp, postage certificate, piece, sheetlet and souvenir sheet, and refers to the national standards on fluorescent and penetrating anti-counterfeiting inks and on anti-counterfeiting materials.

It then deals with the identification of stamps and with the identification process, which a normative annex lays out as a sequence of steps, followed by a bibliography. It was issued on 28 December 2018 and has applied since 1 July 2019.

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

1 Scope

This standard specifies the identification of stamps and the process of stamp identification.

This standard applies to stamps, postage envelopes, postage postcards issued by postal enterprises issued by or successively approved by the government of the PRC.

Identification of postage certificates such as postage stamps and postage credit cards.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Stamp

A postage voucher issued by the national (or regional) postal administration for the posting of mail.

3.2 Fake stamp

Prints of imitation stamps.

3.3 Fabricated stamp

Artificially processed or patchwork stamps.

3.4 Postage certificate

Specialized for postage stamps, postage envelopes, postage postcards, postage stamps, etc.

3.5 Piece

The minimum unit of measurement for a stamp is the basic unit that forms a complete set, a whole, and a ticket.

3.6 Sheetlet

A small piece of stamp with a decorative border around it, characterized by a separate "Zhang", usually accompanied by a full set of the same title stamp.

3.7 Souvenir sheet

A small stamp with a full set of stamps with decorative borders.
