Scope
GB/T 3629-2017 is the English-translated version of 钽及钽合金板材、带材和箔材.
GB/T 3629-2017 specifies the requirements, the test methods and the inspection rules for tantalum and tantalum alloy sheet, strip and foil, along with the provisions on signs, packaging, transportation, storage, the quality certificate and the content of the contract or purchase order.
Clause 1 states that it applies to tantalum and tantalum alloy sheet, strip and foil for general industrial use. Clause 2 cites GB/T 228.1, GB/T 4340.1, GB/T 6394, GB/T 15076 in all parts and YS/T 751.
Clause 3 holds the requirements: 3.1 is the product classification, where Table 1 sets the grades Ta1, Ta2, FTa1, FTa2, TaNb3, TaNb20, TaNb40, TaW2.5 and TaW10 against the supply states Y, the cold working state, and M, annealed, with thickness, width and length ranges in millimetres and the variety named as foil, strip or plate, while 3.2 states that the product mark is made up of product name, standard number, grade, supply status, accuracy and specifications.
The foreword places the chemical composition of the product in 3.3, the size and tolerance in 3.4, the mechanical properties in 3.5, the Vickers hardness requirements of Ta1 and Ta2 materials in 3.6 and the grain size in 3.7, with the test methods and inspection rules in chapters 4 and 5.
Against the 2006 edition the foreword reports that the grades TaNb40 and TaW10 and their related requirements were added, that the product classification, the chemical composition, the size and tolerance and the test methods and inspection rules were modified, that the mechanical properties were increased and modified, and that the Vickers hardness requirements for Ta1 and Ta2 and the product grain size requirement were new.
The standard was proposed by China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association and is held by the National Non-ferrous Metal Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC243).
It replaces GB/T 3629-2006, was issued on October 14, 2017 and has applied since May 1, 2018.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 3629-2006 "tantalum and tantalum alloy sheet, strip and foil." This standard compared with GB/T 3629-2006, the following major changes.
--- Added grades TaNb40, TaW10 and related requirements (see 3.1);
--- Modify the product classification requirements (see 3.1, 2006 version 3.1);
--- Modify the chemical composition of the product requirements (see 3.3, 2006 version 3.3);
--- Modify the product size and tolerance (see 3.4, 2006 version 3.4);
--- Increase and modify the mechanical properties of products (see 3.5, 2006 version 3.5);
--- Increased Vickers hardness requirements of Ta1, Ta2 materials (see 3.6);
--- Increasing the product grain size requirements (see 3.7);
--- Modify the test methods and inspection rules (see Chapter 4 and Chapter 5, 2006 Edition Chapter 4 and Chapter 5).
1 Scope
This standard specifies the requirements of tantalum and tantalum alloy sheet, strip and foil, test methods, inspection rules and signs, packaging, transportation, storage, Quality certificate and contract (or purchase order) content.
This standard applies to general industrial tantalum and tantalum alloy sheet, strip and foil.
