Scope
GB/T 35888-2018 is the English-translated version of 方糖.
GB/T 35888-2018 is the Chinese product standard for cube sugar made from white granulated sugar.
It divides sugar cubes into three grades, refined, excellent and first grade, and sets sensory requirements for colour, taste and odour, shape and visible impurities: the cubes must be white without black spots, regular cubes or cuboids, and taste of white sugar with no off-odour.
It also sets physical and chemical requirements, with the test methods of QB/T 5011. The standard further covers inspection rules, labelling according to GB 7718, packaging, transport and storage, and net content checks to JJF 1070.
Sugar refiners and food inspection bodies use it to grade and accept cube sugar. It was issued on 6 February 2018 and has applied since 1 September 2018.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and labels, packaging, transportation and storage of sugar cubes.
This standard applies to sugar made from white sugar as raw material.
