GB/T 35870-2018 is the English-translated version of 玉米胚.
GB/T 35870-2018 is the Chinese national product standard for corn germ traded as a raw material for edible oil, defined as the mixture of germ with small amounts of endosperm and bran separated from maize.
It sets the terms and definitions, the quality requirements, food safety requirements, inspection methods and inspection rules, and the requirements for labelling, packaging, storage and transport.

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions of corn embryos, quality requirements, food safety, inspection methods, inspection rules, labeling, and packaging. Storage and transportation requirements.
This standard applies to commodity corn embryos.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Corn germ
A mixture of embryos, germs, and a small amount of endosperm and dander extracted from corn for use in edible oils and fats.
3.2 Crude fat content
The mass of crude fat contained in the corn embryos accounted for the mass fraction of the sample (dry basis).
3.3 Corn skin bits
A small amount of corn bran and endosperm introduced during corn embryo extraction.
3.4 Impurity (foreign matter)
Substances other than corn embryos.
Note: Maize embryos and other organic substances including inorganic impurities such as hemp ropes, sandstones, bricks and tiles, and mildewed agglomerates.
