Scope

GB/T 35840.2-2018 is the English-translated version of 塑料模具钢 第2部分:预硬化钢棒.

GB/T 35840.2-2018 is the part of GB/T 35840 that covers pre-hardening steel bars for plastic moulds, meaning steel brought to a specific hardness by heat treatment before the mould is made.

It applies to round, square and flat bars delivered hot-rolled, forged or machined. It specifies the ordering contents and the dimensions, shape, weight and allowable deviations, largely by reference to GB/T 1299-2014, together with technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and packaging, marking and quality certificates.

Steel is inspected in batches of the same designation, furnace number, delivery status, specification and heat treatment furnace, with re-inspection following GB/T 17505, and an annex gives standard diagrams for the macrostructure of remelted bars and billets. It was issued on 14 May 2018 and has applied since 1 February 2019.
