Scope

GB/T 35836-2018 is the English-translated version of 甘蔗耐寒性鉴定技术规程.

GB/T 35836-2018 sets out how to identify and evaluate the cold tolerance of sugarcane varieties in the field. It deals with damage from frost in dry, sunny weather and from frost or freezing in overcast and rainy weather, and defines the measures used to assess it, such as the stem length loss rate and the basal internode loss rate.

The standard describes the field identification method, from choosing a test site in an area with winter frost where sugarcane can be planted before early April, to a randomized block design repeated three or more times on plots of 12 to 30 square metres.

It then covers the cold tolerance survey and the evaluation of the results. It was issued on 6 February 2018 and has applied since 1 September 2018.
