Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part

1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents". Drafting. This document supersedes GB/T 19566-2004 "Technical Regulations for High-Yield Cultivation of Sugarcane in Dryland Areas" and is consistent with GB/T 19566-2004. Compared to previous versions, aside from structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

---The "Key Economic and Technical Indicators" have been changed to "Target Characteristics" and "Land Parcel Selection," and the corresponding technical requirements have been modified (see section 4). Chapter 6 (Chapter 3 in the.2004 edition);

---A flowchart for high-yield cultivation techniques of sugarcane in dryland areas has been added (see Chapter 5);

---The "Main Cultivation Measures" have been changed to "Newly Planted Sugarcane Cultivation" and "Raw Sugarcane Cultivation," and the requirements for "Newly Planted Sugarcane Cultivation" have been modified. Requirements for "Raw Sugarcane Cultivation" (see Chapters 7 and 8,

1 Scope

GB/T 19566-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering growing cane without irrigation - the variety and the planting date chosen against the rains, the depth of the furrow and the mulch that keep the moisture, the fertiliser split, and the ratoon management that decides how many years a field keeps yielding. Most of Guangxi's cane, and therefore most of China's sugar, is grown on dry hillside land. Issued on 31 October 2025, it has been in force since 1 May 2026, replacing GB/T 19566-2004.

This document establishes the process for high-yield cultivation techniques of sugarcane in dryland areas, and specifies the selection of sites and new planting procedures for high-yield cultivation of sugarcane in dryland areas. The paper describes the traceability methods for sugarcane cultivation, ratoon sugarcane cultivation, and harvesting requirements, and outlines the process record-keeping procedures. This document applies to high-yield cultivation of sugarcane in dryland areas suitable for sugarcane production.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Process maturation phase The period when the sucrose accumulation in the sugarcane stalk reaches the highest level inherent to the variety, satisfying the requirements of the sugar-making process.

4 Target traits

4.1 Target Output The yield of sugarcane is greater than or equal to 7000 kg/666.7 m2.

4.2 Effective stems Medium to large stem varieties. 4000-5000 stems/666.7m^2; medium stem varieties. 5000-6000 stems/666.7m^2 666.7m2.

4.3 Single stem weight Medium-to-large stem varieties average 1.40kg to 1.75kg, while medium-stem varieties average 1.17kg to 1.40kg.

4.4 Sucrose content The average sucrose content of sugarcane at the harvest period is greater than or equal to 14.5%.
