Scope

GB/T 35230-2017 is the English-translated version of 地面气象观测规范 蒸发.

GB/T 35230-2017 fixes how evaporation is observed in surface meteorological observation. Clause 1 states that the standard specifies the technical requirements and the observational methods for observing evaporation in surface meteorological observation, and that it applies to the observation of evaporation in ground meteorological observation.

The general requirements clause lists the instruments used, large evaporators, small evaporators and evaporating cells, with the large and small evaporators detailed in two appendices, and it fixes where they go, the large evaporator in the west of the observation field, the small evaporator east of it and 4 m away, and the evaporating pool at least 50 m from the observatory, as well as the water to be used, preferably water representing the local natural water bodies, with drinking water such as well water or tap water allowed where natural water is hard to obtain.

The next clause, on the large evaporator, gives its construction, listing among its parts the evaporation barrel, an overflow bucket and a stylus, and then its installation, which is to disturb as little of the original soil layer as possible; the draft breaks off inside the installation subclause, so the rest of the body cannot be reported.

Clause 3 prints a single definition, for evaporation, as the amount of water of a given volume that passes from the liquid or solid state into vapour over a period of time, and clause 2 cites GB/T 35221 on the general rules for surface weather observation.

The foreword places the standard in a series of seventeen surface meteorological observation standards, numbered GB/T 35221 to GB/T 35237 and covering general rules, cloud, visibility, weather phenomena, pressure, air temperature and humidity, wind, precipitation, snow depth and snow pressure, this evaporation standard, radiation, sunshine, ground temperature, frozen soil, wire ice, ground conditions and automatic observation.

It records that the standard was proposed by the China Meteorological Administration and is handled by the National Meteorological Instruments and Methods of Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC507). It was issued on 29 December 2017 and has applied since 1 July 2018.

1 Scope

This standard specifies the technical requirements and observational methods for observing evaporation in surface meteorological observations.

This standard applies to the observation of evaporation in the ground meteorological observation.

3 Terms and definitions

GB/T 35221 and defined by the following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Evaporation

In a certain period of time, a certain volume of water from the liquid or solid into a vapor amount.

4 General requirements

4.1 Determination of equipment

Apparatus for the determination of evaporation, including large evaporators (see annex A), small evaporators (see annex B) and evaporating cells.

4.2 Equipment installation site

Large evaporator installed in the observation field west, small evaporator should be installed in the east of the large evaporator, the two separated by 4m, evaporation Pool installation should be at least 50m away from the observatory.

4.3 Evaporation of water

It is advisable to use water that represents the natural water bodies (rivers, lakes and rivers) of the local area. Drinking water (well water, tap water) is available in areas where natural water is difficult.

5 Large evaporator

5.1 Construction

Large evaporator by the evaporation barrel, hydrosphere, overflow bucket and stylus composition, see Appendix A structure.

5.2 Installation

5.2.1 Evaporation barrel

Large evaporator installed in the observation field, installation, strive to dig less original soil layer. The method and the steps are as follows. […]
