Scope

GB/T 34630.5-2026 is the English-translated version of 搅拌摩擦焊 铝及铝合金 第5部分: 质量与检验要求.

Quality and inspection requirements for friction stir welds in aluminium and its alloys are the subject of Part 5 of this series. The document will be consulted by quality engineers, welding coordinators, inspection and testing organisations, fabricators and customers who need an agreed basis for judging whether welded aluminium products meet expectations.

In practice, such a part sits at the end of the production chain, after joint design and procedure qualification, and defines how the finished welds are evaluated. It is therefore relevant to contract manufacturing and supply relationships where acceptance criteria must be agreed. The standard replaces GB/T 34630.5-2017 and adopts an international standard. It is a recommended national standard (GB/T) and takes effect on 1 April 2027. Agreed criteria reduce disputes at delivery.
