Scope

GB/T 34630.2-2026 is the English-translated version of 搅拌摩擦焊 铝及铝合金 第2部分:焊接接头设计.

Friction stir welding joins aluminium without melting the base metal, and this part of the series covers the design of weld joints in aluminium and its alloys. It is written for structural and mechanical designers, welding engineers, fabricators in rail, automotive, marine and aerospace work, and inspection personnel who must decide how joints are laid out before procedures are qualified.

Part 2 deals with the design stage, which means it is typically read alongside the other parts of the series that handle procedure qualification and quality requirements. It replaces GB/T 34630.2-2017 and adopts an international standard. It is a recommended national standard (GB/T). Fabricators supplying welded aluminium assemblies to Chinese customers can use it as a design reference. It takes effect on 1 April 2027.
