Scope

GB/T 34630.4-2026 is the English-translated version of 搅拌摩擦焊 铝及铝合金 第4部分:焊接工艺规程及评定.

Part 4 of the friction stir welding series for aluminium and its alloys is about how welding procedures are specified and qualified. Welding engineers, quality managers, fabricators, third-party inspectors and certification bodies will use it to document a procedure and to demonstrate that it produces acceptable joints before production work starts.

Because friction stir welding is used for components where joint quality is critical, a clear framework for procedure specification and qualification supports consistent results between workshops and customers. The standard replaces GB/T 34630.4-2017, adopts an international standard, and is a recommended national standard (GB/T). It is intended to be used together with the other parts of the series, which cover design of joints and quality and inspection requirements. It becomes effective on 1 April 2027.
