GB/T 34224-2017 is the English-translated version of 生物产品中功能性微生物检测.

GB/T 34224-2017 is the Chinese national method for counting and identifying the functional micro-organisms declared in a biological product.

It sets the basic principles of the examination, the general laboratory requirements and the test methods to follow, and lists the species it covers: Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis, Enterococcus faecalis, Enterococcus faecium, Candida utilis and Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

Producers of probiotic feeds, foods and preparations and the laboratories that check them use it to prove that the strain declared on the label is the strain present, and in the quantity claimed. Issued on 7 September 2017, it has applied since 1 April 2018.

1 Scope

This standard specifies the basic principles of functional microbial testing of biological products, general requirements and test methods.

This standard applies to biological products Lactobacillus plantarum (Lactobacillusplantarum), Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis, Enterococcus faecalis, Enterococcus faecium, Candida utilis and Saccharomyces cerevisiae Examination of the mother (Saccharomyces cerevisiae).

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Biologic products

Bio-related industrial products.

Note: The biological products in this standard specifically refers to the functional microorganisms after industrial production and expansion of processed viable preparations and add the preparation of such preparations product.

3.2 Functional microorganisms

Under certain conditions, there are live microbial strains that have an exact regulatory modification.

3.3 Colony forming unit colony-formingunits; CFU

In the viable cell culture count, the colonies formed by the multiplication of the colonies formed on the solid medium by a single cell or a multiplicity of cells aggregated into clusters.
