Scope
GB/T 34100-2017 is the English-translated version of 轻质烃及发动机燃料和其他油品中总硫含量的测定 紫外荧光法.
GB/T 34100-2017 is the Chinese standard "Test method for determination of total sulfur in light hydrocarbons, spark ignition engine fuel, diesel engine fuel, and engine oil - Ultraviolet fluorescence method".
Its scope clause reads: This standard specifies the method of determination of total sulfur content of light hydrocarbons and engine fuels and other oils by UV fluorescence spectrometry.
This standard applies to the determination of the boiling range between 25 °C ~ 400 °C, the kinematic viscosity at room temperature 0.2mm2/s ~ 20mm2/s Total liquid sulfur in liquid hydrocarbons, including naphtha, distillate, engine oil, ethanol, fatty acid methyl esters (FAME), and motor fuels such as steam Oil, Oxygenated Gasoline (Ethanol Blends, E-85, M-85), Diesel, Biodiesel, Biodiesel Blending and Jet Fuel.
Total sulfur content measurement The range of 1.0mg/kg ~ 8000mg/kg. This standard applies to the determination of halogen content of not more than 100mg/kg total sulfur content of liquid hydrocarbons.
Note. If the sulfur content is low and the nitrogen content is high, the nitrogen content has an influence on the sulfur content determination result. Its clauses include method summary.

3 Method summary
The syringe can be used to inject the sample directly into the high temperature combustion tube; it is also possible to inject the sample into the sample boat and push the boat to high temperature
Burning tube. Under high temperature, oxygen-rich conditions, sulfur in the sample is oxidized to form sulfur dioxide (SO2). The gas generated after the combustion of the sample passes first
Removal of water from the device in the gas water, and then by ultraviolet (UV) light irradiation, sulfur dioxide (SO2) to absorb the energy of ultraviolet light into excited state
Of sulfur dioxide (SO2 *). Sulfur dioxide (SO2) from the excited state returned to the ground state when the fluorescence emitted by the photomultiplier tube detection by
The resulting signal value calculates the sulfur content of the sample.
Warning --- Exposed to excessive amounts of UV light harmful to health. Operators should avoid exposure of any part of the body to UV light and secondary or
Scattered by the radiation of light, especially the eyes.
