Scope

GB/T 3406-2025 is the English-translated version of 石油甲苯.

GB/T 3406-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering petroleum-derived toluene as sold - the purity and the distillation range, the colour and the acid wash colour, the sulfur and the non-aromatics, and the bromine index that tells a downstream user how much olefin came through. Issued on 5 October 2025, it has been in force since 1 May 2026, replacing GB/T 3406-2010.

Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part

1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents". Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 3406-2010 "Petroleum Toluene". Compared with GB/T 3406-2010, the main differences are structural adjustments and editorial changes. In addition, the main technological changes are as follows:

a) The color test method ASTM D1209 has been deleted, and the test method GB/T 6324.6 has been added as the arbitration method (see table).

1 Scope

GB/T 3406-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering petroleum-derived toluene as sold - the purity and the distillation range, the colour and the acid wash colour, the sulfur and the non-aromatics, and the bromine index that tells a downstream user how much olefin came through. Issued on 5 October 2025, it has been in force since 1 May 2026, replacing GB/T 3406-2010.

b) Change the purity test method to NB/SH/T 6057 (see Table 1,.2010 version);

c) The test method for hydrocarbon impurity content, ASTM D6526, was deleted, and the test method NB/SH/T 6057 was added as the arbitration method. (See Table 1,.2010 edition);

d) The test methods for total sulfur content have been expanded to include GB/T 34100 and SH/T 1820, and the arbitration method has been changed to GB/T 34100 (see GB/T 34100). Table 1 (2010 edition of Table 1);

e) Change the bromine index indicator to "Report" (see Table 1,.2010 edition);

f) The inspection rules were changed; the evaporation residue test was changed to periodic inspection, to be measured at least once every six months (see Chapter 6,.2010). Chapter 5 of the edition).
