This standard gives general technical specifications for the shelter of a mobile laboratory, the enclosed compartment in which the laboratory work is carried out and which is carried on or mounted to a vehicle or transport platform.

It is relevant to manufacturers of laboratory shelters and vehicle conversions, to organizations that purchase them, and to inspectors and testing bodies that check delivered units.

The 2026 edition was issued on 28 September 2026 and takes effect on 1 April 2027, replacing GB/T 29477-2012. As a recommended national standard it is applied by agreement or by internal policy rather than as a legal obligation.

Its practical value is in giving suppliers and buyers one shared technical baseline when they describe, compare and accept a laboratory shelter, instead of relying on each project's own ad hoc specification. It belongs to the same family of mobile laboratory documents.
