Scope
GB/T 28607-2012 is the English-translated version of 标准弹性体材料与发动机油的相容性试验.
GB/T 28607-2012 sets out how to check whether an automotive engine oil is compatible with the rubber used in engine seals.
It defines five standard elastomers - two nitrile rubbers (NBR-1 and NBR-2), a fluoroelastomer (FKM), an acrylate rubber (ACM) and a silicone rubber (VMQ) - with their formulation, mixing and curing, so that every laboratory tests the oil against the same reference materials.
The reference specimens are immersed in the oil under controlled conditions, and the changes in hardness, tensile strength, elongation at break and volume show how the oil affects each material; the standard also defines an elastomer compatibility index.
It is used by oil formulators, seal makers and engine builders. Issued on 29 June 2012, it has applied since 1 December 2012.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with GB/T 1.1-2009 given rules.
1 Scope
This standard specifies the evaluation of five standard elastomer materials and engine oil compatibility test method, these five elastomeric material is issued The most typical sealing materials used in contact with engine oil.
This standard provides a formula, the mixing process and curing procedures five standard elastomeric material.
a) nitrile rubber -1 (NBR-1);
b) nitrile rubber -2 (NBR-2);
c) fluorine rubber (of FKM);
d) acrylate rubber (the ACM);
e) silicone rubber (VMQ).
This standard applies under controlled conditions by measuring the hardness change before and after immersion standard elastomer reference sample, tensile strength Rate, elongation at break rate of change, volume change of engine oil to assess the impact of such elastomers.

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Elastomer elastomer
Rubber-based polymer material, the material is deformed at low stress, the stress cancellation after rapidly returns to its approximate original scale Inch and shapes.
3.2 Standard Elastomers
Test elastomer testelastmer Vulcanized rubber formulations is known, used to evaluate the impact of the medium rubber.
Note: To reduce the error, test elastomers include only guarantee the basic ingredients vulcanization.
3.3 Compatibility index
The standard sample appropriate standard elastomers under the test conditions specified into some determined after soaking liquid, as measured by volume
