Scope
GB/T 28535-2018 is the English-translated version of 铅酸蓄电池隔板.
GB/T 28535-2018 covers separators for lead-acid batteries made of ultra-fine glass fibre, microporous polyethylene or sintered polyvinyl chloride. It sets out the classification and designation of separators, their requirements and test methods, the inspection rules and the marking, packaging, transport and storage.
The properties it defines include maximum pore size, porosity, electrical resistance in sulfuric acid, wettability, basis weight, weight loss in acid, capillary acid-wicking height, elongation at break, wet pressure retention, ignition loss and puncture strength, and it describes what counts as a defect.
Samples are conditioned according to GB/T 2918. Separator makers, battery manufacturers and test laboratories use it. It replaces GB/T 28535-2012, was issued on 28 December 2018 and has applied since 1 July 2019.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 28535-2012 "Lead-acid battery separator", compared with GB/T 28535-2012, the main technical content changes The following is as follows.
--- Revised the scope of application of the standard (see Chapter 1);
--- Removed the technical requirements and test methods for microporous rubber separators and meltblown polypropylene separators (see Chapter 1, Chapter 5, Chapter 2 of the 2012 edition) Chapter 6);
--- Increased the definition of defects, elongation at break, wet pressure holding capacity, ignition loss, puncture strength and related technical requirements and Test indicators (see Chapters 3, 5, and 6).
1 Scope
This standard specifies the classification and naming, marking, requirements, determination methods, inspection rules, and lead-acid battery separators (hereinafter referred to as "separators"). Marking, packaging, transportation, storage, etc.
This standard applies to ultra-fine glass fiber separators for lead-acid batteries, microporous polyethylene separators, sintered polyvinyl chloride separators.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Maximum aperture
The diameter of the largest pore of the separator.
3.2 Porosity
The volume of the pores of the separator is a percentage of the volume of the entire separator.
3.3 Resistance
The ability of the separator to block ion migration in a sulfuric acid solution.
Note: expressed in ohms value of 1 square decimeter.
3.4 Wetability
The ability of the separator to be wetted by a sulfuric acid solution.
Note: Expressed in time, the unit is seconds (s).
3.5 Basis weight
The mass per unit area of the thickness of the partition.
3.6 Pickling weight loss
The rate of change of mass after the separator is immersed in a certain temperature and a certain density of sulfuric acid solution for a certain period of time.
3.7 Capillary acid absorption
The height at which the acid is free to climb when the partition absorbs acid.
