Scope
GB/T 28465-2024 is the English-translated version of 服装衬布检验规则.
China's national inspection rules for garment interlining. It specifies the inspection content, the inspection lot, the sampling, the determination of results, the retest provisions and the inspection report for the interlining used in garment manufacture. Interlining is the material nobody buys and everybody depends on. It is bonded or sewn inside a collar, a cuff, a front band, a waistband or a lapel, and it is what gives those parts their shape and keeps it through the life of the garment. It is bought by the garment factory rather than by the customer, it is invisible in the finished product, and when it fails the garment fails - a collar that curls, a front that bubbles after cleaning, a waistband that concertinas. Because it is a component rather than a product, what a national standard can most usefully supply is not a specification but a procedure: how a delivery of interlining is inspected, what is examined, how a lot is formed, how many rolls are sampled, and what happens when a result is marginal. That is what this document is. The requirements for the material itself - the bond strength, the shrinkage, the handle, the resistance to washing and dry cleaning - live in the product standards for each type of interlining, and this document is the common inspection framework that applies to all of them. The 2024 revision adds the inspection content and the requirements for lot formation, changes how the results of physical and chemical tests are judged, adds requirements for retest results while deleting the provisions on retest fees, deletes the miscellaneous chapter of the previous edition, and adds a chapter on the inspection report. Issued on 15 March 2024 and in force since 1 October 2024, it replaces GB/T 28465-2012.
