Scope
GB/T 27683-2023 is the English-translated version of 铜及铜合金切削屑料及其回收规范.
GB/T 27683-2023 sets out how cutting chips of copper and copper alloy are recovered and reused.
It defines cutting filings, inclusions, volatile substance, sample, chemical composition sample and radioactive contamination, names and classifies the chips and their marking, and then fixes the requirements on volatile matter, inclusion content, chemical composition, radioactive contaminants and hazardous waste, with the matching test methods and the inspection rules.
It also covers recovery and use, transport, storage, accompanying documents and the order form, and its appendices give the volatile matter test method and the sampling method.
It applies to the recovery of such chips in production and trade. It cites GB 5085.1 to GB 5085.6, GB/T 5121, GB/T 5231, GB/T 8170, YS/T 482 and YS/T 483. It replaces GB/T 27683-2011, was issued on 6 August 2023 and has applied since 1 March 2024.

a) The terms and definitions of cutting chips, inclusions, volatile matter, samples, chemical composition samples, and radioactive contamination have been added, and easy cutting has been deleted.
Terms and definitions of copper alloy cutting waste, direct and effective recovery, direct and efficient recycling (see Chapter 3, 2011 edition Chapter 3);
b) The name and classification of cutting chips have been changed (see 4.1, 4.1 of the 2011 edition);
c) The morphology of cutting chips has been changed, and the provisions on the outer dimensions of cutting chips have been deleted (see 4.2, 4.3 of the 2011 edition);
d) Added marking of cutting chips (see 4.3);
e) Change the requirements for cutting chip volatiles (see 5.2, 4.4 of the 2011 edition);
f) Changed the chip inclusion content (see 5.3, 4.4.1 of the 2011 edition);
g) Changed the requirements for chemical composition (see 5.4, 4.2.2 of the 2011 edition);
h) Added technical requirements for radioactive contaminants and hazardous waste in cutting chips (see 5.5 and 5.6);
i) Added test methods for radioactive contaminants and hazardous waste in cutting chips (see 6.5 and 6.6);
j) Added inspection rules (see Chapter 7);
k) Changed the requirements for recycling and use of cutting chips (see Chapter 8, Chapter 9, Chapter 5 of the 2011 edition);
l) Added relevant requirements for accompanying documents (see Chapter 10);
m) Changed the "Detection Method for Cutting Chips, Oil, Water and Inclusions" to "Detection Method for Volatile Matter" (see Appendix A, 2011 version of the appendix Record B);
n) The sampling method for cutting chips has been changed (see Appendix C, Appendix A of the 2011 edition).
1 Scope
This document specifies the classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and returns of copper and copper alloy cutting chips (hereinafter referred to as "cutting chips").
Receipt, use, transportation, storage and accompanying documents and order form contents.
This document applies to the recycling of copper and copper alloy cutting chips in the production and trade fields. Saving copper resources and improving scrap metal recycling It can also be used as a reference in the management of reuse and low-carbon energy conservation and emission reduction.
