Scope
GB/T 25171-2023 is the English-translated version of 畜禽养殖环境与废弃物管理术语.
GB/T 25171-2023 fixes the vocabulary of livestock and poultry housing environment and waste management. The field brings together animal science, environmental engineering and agricultural regulation, and each arrived with its own words for the same things - manure in its various states, the liquid fraction, the solid fraction, the several composting and anaerobic treatments, the stocking and ventilation parameters that define the housing environment. When a discharge limit, a subsidy condition or a purchase specification depends on which term applies to a given material, imprecision has direct consequences: whether a producer is compliant can turn on whether their material counts as manure, slurry or wastewater. This document defines the terms related to the livestock and poultry breeding environment and to waste management, and applies to that field and to related areas. Under ICS 65.020.30 and CCS B40, it is the reference for the standards that build on it, for farm designers and equipment suppliers, for the environmental authorities regulating intensive livestock production, and for the researchers and technical writers whose work has to be read consistently across all of them.
