Scope

GB/T 23962-2023 is the English-translated version of 工业用一乙胺.

GB/T 23962-2023 is the Chinese national standard for industrial monoethylamine, the amine of formula C2H7N made by catalytic ammoniation of ethanol in the presence of hydrogen.

It sets the classification and nomenclature, the requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules and the marking, packaging, transportation and storage rules.

The product is split into monoethylamine (anhydrous) and monoethylamine (70% aqueous solution) by water content, and has to be a transparent liquid free of visible mechanical impurities.

The revision drops the qualified grade of the previous edition, raises the monoethylamine content of the anhydrous product from 99.5% to 99.7%, and changes the methods for appearance, total alkalinity, ammonia content and moisture.

It replaces GB/T 23962-2009, was issued on 7 September 2023 and has applied since 1 April 2024.

Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" Drafting.

This document replaces GB/T 23962-2009 "Monoethylamine for Industrial Use". Compared with GB/T 23962-2009, except for structural adjustment and editing In addition to sexual changes, the main technical changes are as follows.

---Delete the qualified product indicators of monoethylamine (anhydrous) and monoethylamine (70% aqueous solution), and cancel the product grade (see Table 1 of the 2009 edition);

---"Monoethylamine" in monoethylamine (anhydrous) products was changed from ">=99.5%" (excellent product) to ">=99.7%" (see Table 1, 2009 version Table 1);

---Changed the measurement method of appearance (see 6.2, 5.3 of the 2009 edition);

--- Changed the preparation method of monoethylamine (anhydrous) test solution (see 6.3 and Appendix A, 2009 version of 5.4);

---The determination method of total alkalinity has been changed (see 6.5.2, 5.6.2 of the 2009 version);

---Changed the injection volume and calculation formula for ammonia content determination (see Table 2 and 6.7.5, Table 2 and 5.8.6 of the 2009 version);

---Changed the method for determination of moisture in monoethylamine (anhydrous) (see 6.8, 5.4 and 5.9 of the 2009 edition);

---The "Safety" part has been adjusted to an informative appendix (see Appendix C, Chapter 8 of the 2009 edition).

1 Scope

This document specifies the classification and nomenclature, requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marking, packaging, transportation and storage of industrial monoethylamine.

This document applies to industrial monoethylamine produced by catalytic ammoniation using ethanol as raw material in the presence of hydrogen.

Note: The molecular formula of monoethylamine is C2H7N, the structural formula is CH3-CH2-NH2, and the relative molecular mass is 45.08 (according to the 2022 international relative atomic mass).
