Scope
GB/T 23517-2022 is the English-translated version of 钌炭.
GB/T 23517-2022 is the Chinese national standard for ruthenium on carbon catalyst.
It gives the grades, the technical requirements - the ruthenium content, the carrier, the particle size, the moisture and the activity - the test methods, the inspection rules, the provisions on marking, packaging, transport and storage, the documents that accompany a delivery and what an order has to state.
It applies to the ruthenium on carbon used in the hydrogenation and reduction processes of fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals and environmental treatment. Catalyst makers and the plants that buy and later return the spent catalyst use it.
It replaces GB/T 23517-2009, was issued on 9 March 2022 and has applied since 1 October 2022.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" drafted.
This document replaces GB/T 23517-2009 "Ruthenium Carbon". Compared with GB/T 23517-2009, except for structural adjustments and editorial changes, The main technical changes are as follows.
--- Changed the definition of "ruthenium carbon" (see 3.1, 3.1 of the.2009 edition);
--- Delete the terms, definitions, requirements and test methods of "ash" (see 3.2, 4.4, 5.3 of the.2009 edition);
--- Changed the example of ruthenium carbon to "mass fraction (%)-Ru/C-carbon type" (see 4.1 of the.2009 edition);
--- Delete the requirements for impurity elements "Fe, Cu" in the chemical composition table of ruthenium carbon (see 5.1, 4.2 of the.2009 edition);
--- Increased the requirements and test methods for the catalytic performance of ruthenium carbon (see 5.2, 6.2, Appendix B, Appendix C);
--- Increased the requirements for the specific surface area range of different carbon species (see 5.3, 4.4 of the.2009 edition);
---Changed the test method of ruthenium content in ruthenium carbon, the ruthenium content was changed from "thiourea spectrophotometry" to "inductively coupled plasma atom" "Emission Spectroscopy" (see 6.1.1, Appendix A, 5.1 of the.2009 edition)
---Changed the test method of impurity content in ruthenium carbon, from "flame atomic absorption spectrometry" to "inductively coupled plasma atom" "Emission Spectroscopy" (see 6.1.2, 5.2 of the.2009 edition, Appendix A);
--- Changed the drying temperature during the test of moisture content, from "70°C±5°C" to "105°C±5°C"; (see 6.4,.2009 version 6.4).
1 Scope
This document specifies the grades, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, storage, accompanying documents and ordering of ruthenium carbon single content.
This document applies to ruthenium carbons used in fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals, environmental remediation and other hydrogenation reduction processes.
2 Normative references
The contents of the following documents constitute essential provisions of this document through normative references in the text. Among them, dated citations documents, only the version corresponding to that date applies to this document; for undated references, the latest edition (including all amendments) applies to this document.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Ruthenium on carbon catalyst
A mixture of ruthenium evenly distributed on the surface of carbon materials, including activated carbon, carbon black, mesoporous carbon, carbon nanotubes, and carbon molecular sieves.
4 Grades
The grade of the product is composed of the mass fraction of ruthenium (%) plus the symbol of ruthenium and the type of carbon. The product grade is expressed as. 3%- Ruthenium mass fraction (%) Ru/C- Ruthenium element symbol activated carbon Type of charcoal
5 Technical requirements
5.1 Chemical composition
The chemical composition of the product (dry basis) shall comply with the requirements in Table 1.
