Scope
GB/T 20492-2019 is the English-translated version of 锌-5%铝-混合稀土合金镀层钢丝、钢绞线.
GB/T 20492-2019 is the Chinese national standard for zinc-5% aluminium-mischmetal alloy coated steel wire and steel wire strand. It specifies their classification, the order content, the technical requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules, and the packaging, marking and quality certificate.
Steel wire is divided into class A and class B by coating weight and into five grades by nominal tensile strength; clauses 3 to 9 deal with the wire and clauses 10 to 16 with the strand.
It applies to steel wire used to make overhead stranded conductors and to strand used for overhead earth wires, communication cables, hangers, suspensions, guys and anchorages, where corrosion resistance and tensile strength are wanted.
It replaces GB/T 20492-2006, was issued on 25 March 2019 and has applied since 1 February 2020.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 20492-2006 "Zinc-5% aluminum-mixed rare earth alloy coated steel wire, steel strand", and GB/T 20492- Compared with.2006, the main technical changes are as follows:
--- Removed the mechanical properties of galvanized steel wire at various levels under the C-grade coating of steel wire (see Table 4 to Table 8, Table 4 of the 2006 edition);
--- Removed the weight of the C grade coating in the steel coating (see Table 2, Table 5 of the 2006 edition);
--- Removed the weight of the D grade coating in the steel wire coating for steel strands (see Table 16, Table 13 of the 2006 edition);
--- Increased the minimum breaking tensile test method for steel strands. by testing the sum of the breaking tension of the stranded steel wire in the strand Calculate the minimum breaking force of the strand (see 15.10);
--- Added 4 grade strength and 5 grade strength galvanized steel wire, and specified its performance parameters (see Table 7 and Table 8);
---Modified the winding test mandrel diameter of the 3-stage strength galvanized steel wire with the nominal diameter in the range of 2.75mm~5.50mm 5D changed to 4D (see Table 6, Table 4 of the 2006 edition);
--- Revised the strength code in the "Modeling Method for Galvanized Steel Wire Product Types for Overhead Stranded Wires", using "Class 1, Class 2, Class 3, Class 4 and Level 5" (see Table 4 to Table 8, Table 4 of the 2006 edition);
---Order content, test methods, packaging, signs, quality certificates have been detailed in accordance with China's national conditions (see Chapter 4, Chapter 8, Chapter 11, Chapter 15, Chapter 18).
1 Scope
This standard specifies the zinc-5% aluminum-mixed rare earth alloy coated steel wire (hereinafter referred to as steel wire), steel strand (hereinafter referred to as steel strand) Class, order content, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking and quality certificates.
This standard is applicable to the manufacture of steel wire for overhead stranded wire; suitable for overhead power ground wire, communication cable, hanger, suspension, tethering and fixed objects Steel strands used. The alloy coating product is suitable for applications requiring corrosion resistance and tensile strength.
Note: The technical specifications of steel wire are specified in Chapters 3 to 9 of this standard. The technical specifications of steel strands are specified in Chapters 10 to 16.
