Scope
GB/T 20155-2018 is the English-translated version of 电池中汞、镉、铅含量的测定.
GB/T 20155-2018 gives the laboratory methods for measuring mercury, cadmium and lead in batteries. It applies to small sealed primary batteries complying with GB/T 8897.2 whose single cells weigh no more than 200 g.
After the battery is dissected, the sample is digested with nitric and hydrochloric acid and filtered; mercury is then determined by cold atomic absorption or by atomic fluorescence spectrometry, and cadmium and lead by flame atomic absorption or by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry.
The standard also sets the test conditions, reagents and equipment, sample preparation including battery packs, quality assurance and control and the test report.
Test laboratories and battery makers use it to check heavy metal content. It replaces GB/T 20155-2006, was issued on 28 December 2018 and has applied since the same day.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 20155-2006 "Determination of mercury, cadmium and lead in batteries".
Compared with GB/T 20155-2006, the main technical changes of this standard are as follows.
--- Revised the scope of application of the standard (see Chapter 1);
--- Increased handling of battery pack samples (see 6.2);
--- Revised "Ammonia content determination cold atomic absorption spectrometry AAS" (see Chapter 7, 2006 edition 2.1);
--- Added "Measurement of cadmium and lead content by flame atomic absorption spectrometry FAAS" (see Chapter 9, 2006 and 2.2 and 2.3).
1 Scope
This standard specifies the detection method for mercury, cadmium and lead in batteries.
This standard is applicable to the determination of the content of mercury, cadmium and lead in small sealed primary batteries complying with GB/T 8897.2 whose single cells have a mass of not more than 200g.
Measurement range. mercury content 0.05µg/g~100mg/g; cadmium content 1.0µg/g~100mg/g; lead content 5.0µg/g~100mg/g.
Note: The lower limit of the measurement range of each element varies with the precision performance of the instrument and the dilution factor at the time of preparation of the sample solution. Reduce the total volume of the sample solution or Increasing the sample weight can reduce the lower limit of the measurement range of mercury, cadmium and lead. For example, when the accuracy of the instrument meets the requirements of this standard, when the sample is When the total volume of the solution is half of the "Table 1 battery mass range, model example and reagent amount added", the lower limit of the measurement range is. mercury 0.025 µg/g, Cadmium 0.5µg/g, lead 2.5µg/g; when the sample solution is prepared with a dilution factor of 5 (battery sample mass 20g sample solution total volume 100mL), measured The lower limit of the range is. mercury 0.01 µg/g, cadmium 0.2 µg/g, lead 1.0 µg/g.
