SST forecast is one of the important contents of ocean forecast. The sea temperature forecast service began in 1977. With the development of the coastal national economy, my country coastal provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government) and cities with separate state planning have also successively issued sea temperature forecasts for the sea areas under their jurisdiction. In order to do better for the protection of marine environment by sea temperature forecasting, it is urgent to formulate unified standards for the release of sea temperature forecasts to establish the principles of sea temperature forecast release. Unify the classification, content and technical requirements of SST forecasts.

The preparation of this document focuses on the classification of SST forecasts, and divides SST forecasts into two categories: daily SST forecasts and emergency SST forecasts. and put forward relevant forecast content and technical requirements. It can not only guarantee daily sea activities, but also meet the needs of sea emergencies.

The release of forecast products provides a unified framework, which facilitates the standardized production of sea temperature forecast products, promotes the effective use of sea temperature forecast functions, and better evaluate my country's marine disaster risk and reduce disaster losses.
