Scope
GB/T 18670-2017 is the English-translated version of 化妆品分类.
GB/T 18670-2017 sets out how cosmetics are classified in China. It defines cosmetics and the three functional groups used in the classification: cleansing cosmetics, care cosmetics and makeup or retouching cosmetics.
Products are sorted mainly by their function and by the part of the body where they are applied: skin, hair, nails and lips. Multi-functional and multi-use products are placed according to their main function and main site of use.
An appendix gives a table of examples of commonly used cosmetics and their categories. Compared with the 2002 edition it revises the normative references and definitions and adds the examples.
Cosmetics manufacturers use it to place their products in a category. It replaces GB/T 18670-2002, was issued on 1 November 2017 and has applied since 1 May 2018.
