Scope
YY/T 10001-2026 is the English-translated version of 化妆品用生物技术来源原料技术要求通则.
YY/T 10001 is the counterpart of YY/T 10002 for ingredients that are grown rather than extracted. It specifies the content and the format that the text of a standard for a biotechnology-derived cosmetic raw material has to contain, and gives recommendations on the items to cover, including terms and definitions, technical requirements, labelling, packaging, transport and storage. Fermentation-derived and recombinant ingredients, from hyaluronic acid to recombinant collagen to bioengineered peptides, are the fastest-moving part of the Chinese cosmetic ingredient market, and this document sets the shape of the standards that will describe them. For an ingredient producer or a brand tracking Chinese cosmetic regulation, it is the earliest signal of what will be required of biotechnology-derived materials.
