Scope
GB/T 18090-2023 is the English-translated version of 猪繁殖与呼吸综合征诊断方法.
GB/T 18090-2023 describes the clinical and laboratory methods for diagnosing porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome, and it applies to the diagnosis and monitoring of the disease.
Clinical diagnosis serves clinically suspected cases; virus isolation and identification, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and real-time RT-PCR detect the virus; the immunoperoxidase monolayer assay, the indirect immunofluorescence assay and the indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay detect antibodies and monitor the state of infection.
The document also covers biosecurity measures, the collection and storage of laboratory test samples, and the comprehensive judgement of results. Three annexes deal with porcine alveolar macrophages, with the preparation of reagents, and with the primers, probes and amplified fragment sequences.
It replaces GB/T 18090-2008, was issued on 17 March 2023 and has applied since 1 October 2023.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules for Standardization Documents" drafting.
This document replaces GB/T 18090-2008 "Diagnostic Methods for Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome". Compared with GB/T 18090-2008, apart from structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:
---Changed the clinical diagnosis (see Chapter 6, Chapter 4 of the 2008 edition);
--- Increased real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (see Chapter 10).
1 Scope
This document describes methods for the clinical and laboratory diagnosis of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS).
This document applies to the diagnosis and monitoring of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome. Clinical diagnostic methods are suitable for clinically suspected cases of PRRS Diagnosis, virus isolation and identification, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (Real-time RT-PCR) is suitable for the detection of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), immunoperoxidase monolayer assay (IPMA), indirect immunoassay Fluorescence assay (IFA) and indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) are suitable for the detection of PRRSV antibodies and the monitoring of infection status.
