1 Scope

GB/T 17889.4-2024 is the Chinese national standard on ladders - part 4: hinged ladders, in the field of environment and health protection, safety. The /T suffix marks it as a recommended standard: it is not compulsory by itself, but it becomes binding as soon as a contract, a tender or a customer specification calls it up - which in practice is how most foreign buyers meet it. It was issued on 23 August 2024 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 23 August 2024. This document specifies the functional dimensions, requirements, test methods and information for use of hinged ladders. This document applies to hinged ladders that can achieve multiple functions such as leaning on and self-supporting. This document does not apply to combination ladders and free-standing ladders with articulated joints as specified in GB/T 17889.1.
