Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part

1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents". Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 17243-1998 "Spirulina Powder for Feed". Compared with GB/T 17243-1998, the main differences are structural adjustments and revisions. Aside from the logical changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

a) The scope of application has been changed (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the.1998 edition);

b) The terminology and definition of spirulina have been removed (see Chapter 3 of the.1998 edition);

c) The identification check has been removed (see section

4.1 of the.1998 edition);

d) Appearance and properties have been altered (see 4.1,

4.2 in the.1998 edition);

e) The moisture, crude ash, and crude protein content of spirulina powder were modified (see 4.2,

4.3 in the.1998 edition);

f) The phycocyanin index was added (see 4.2);

g) The hygiene indicator requirements and test methods have been changed (see 4.3, 6.7, and 4.4, 4.5, 5.3, and

5.4 in the.1998 edition);

h) A sampling method has been added (see Chapter 5);

1 Scope

GB/T 17243-2025 is the Chinese national standard on feed material - spirulina powder, in the field of agriculture. The /T suffix marks it as a recommended standard: it is not compulsory by itself, but it becomes binding as soon as a contract, a tender or a customer specification calls it up - which in practice is how most foreign buyers meet it. It was issued on 31 October 2025 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 May 2026. This document specifies the technical requirements, sampling, inspection rules, labeling, packaging, transportation, storage, and shelf life of spirulina powder, a feed ingredient. The experimental method is described. Spirulina powder is made by drying Spirulina maxima (Arthrospiramaxima).

3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 10647 apply to this document.

4 Technical Requirements

4.1 Appearance and Properties This product should be a uniform dark green powder with the characteristic odor of spirulina and no off-odors.

4.2 Physicochemical Indicators It should comply with the provisions of Table 1.
