Scope
GB/T 15224.2-2021 is the English-translated version of 煤炭质量分级 第2部分：硫分.
GB/T 15224.2-2021 is Part 2 of GB/T 15224 and classifies coal by its dry basis sulfur content. It sets the classification of coal seams according to the sulfur content ranges given in Table 1 and states how the sulfur content of coal is to be tested.
It is written for the exploration and evaluation of coal resources and for guiding coal production, processing and utilisation, and it contains no terms or definitions of its own.
It cites GB/T 214, GB/T 474, GB/T 482, GB/T 19494.2, GB/T 25214 and MT/T 1090; the classification of commercial coal by sulfur content that the previous edition carried has been dropped.
It replaces GB/T 15224.2-2010, was issued on 20 August 2021 and has applied since 1 March 2022.

Foreword
This document was drafted in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of standardizing documents.
This document is Part 2 of GB/T 15224. GB/T 15224, Classification for quality of coal, has been published in the following parts:
-- Part 1: Ash.
-- Part 2: Sulfur content.
-- Part 3: Calorific value.
This document replaces GB/T 15224.2-2010 Classification of quality of coal - Part 2: Sulfur content. Compared with GB/T 15224.2-2010, apart from editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:
a) The normative references have been expanded to include "GB/T 482", "GB/T 25214", and "MT/T 1090", while "GB/T 475", "GB/T 19494.1", and "Regulations for Coal Sampling in Coal Resource Exploration (promulgated by the former Ministry of Coal Industry in 1979)" have been removed (see Chapter 2).
b) The content on sulfur content classification of commercial coal has been removed (see Chapter 4 of the 2010 edition).
1 Scope
This document specifies the classification of coal according to the dry basis sulfur content (St,d) range and the testing of coal sulfur content.
This document applies to the exploration and evaluation of coal resources, as well as to the guidance of coal production, processing and utilization.
2 Normative references
The provisions of the following documents constitute the essential clauses of this document through normative references in this text. Among them, for any dated reference, only the version corresponding to that date applies to this document; for any undated reference, the latest version (including all amendments) applies to this document.
