1 Scope

GB/T 14896.9-2018 is the Chinese national standard on non-traditional machines - terminology - part 9: laser processing machines, in the field of generalities, terminology and documentation. The /T suffix marks it as a recommended standard: it is not compulsory by itself, but it becomes binding as soon as a contract, a tender or a customer specification calls it up - which in practice is how most foreign buyers meet it. It was issued on 13 July 2018 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 February 2019. 2 Machine name

2.1 Laser processing machine laserprocessingmachines A machine tool that uses a laser as an energy source for material processing.

Note. Ultrafast laser refers to a laser with a pulse width of less than 10 ps, which has a very short pulse width and an ultra-high light intensity.
