This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part

1.Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 14441-2008 "Terms of Safety Regulations for Painting Operations". Compared with GB/T 14441-2008, except for the structure In addition to adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

f) the term "benzene-free diluent" has been deleted (see

1 Scope

GB/T 14441-2024 is the Chinese national standard on terminology for the safety of coating operations, in the field of environment and health protection, safety. The /T suffix marks it as a recommended standard: it is not compulsory by itself, but it becomes binding as soon as a contract, a tender or a customer specification calls it up - which in practice is how most foreign buyers meet it. It was issued on 28 November 2024 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 June 2025. Classification: ICS 13.100, CCS C 65. This document defines common terms for safety in painting operations. This document is applicable to painting operations, as well as related production, management, design, scientific research, teaching, publishing and other fields.

3 Basic terminology

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 18719 and the following apply to this document.

3.1 Coating The process of making paint firmly adhere to the surface of metal or non-metal objects.

3.2 Coating operation The general term for production activities performed by workers throughout the entire coating process (3.1).

3.3 Safety standards established to eliminate, control or prevent the various dangerous and harmful factors in painting operations (3.2).

3.4 Workpiece Molded components that require coating or protection.

3.5 Basis Substrate The main material of the workpiece (3.4).

Note. If the material is metal, it is called a metal matrix; if the material is non-metallic material, it is called a non-metallic matrix.

3.6 Substrate The base layer or bottom layer formed on the surface of the substrate (3.5) before coating (3.1).
