This standard specifies the basic requirements, emergency procedures and records requirements for water-ingress emergency operations of marine vessels. This standard is applicable to cargo ships of 500 gross tonnage and above, and passenger ships of 12 passengers or more, sailing on the sea for commercial transportation purposes.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Sea-goingship Designed for ships that mainly sail outside of sheltered areas such as ports, rivers, lakes, or similar areas.
Note. Sea-going vessels do not include military vessels, fishing vessels and yachts. [GB 40555-2021, definition 3.1]
3.2 Engineroom In the space between the watertight boundaries, the machinery and equipment and related pumps, pipelines, etc. that are equipped to provide propulsion power for the ship are arranged. cabin.

3.3 Engineroomflooding A situation in which water enters the engine room due to an accident and poses a threat to the safety of the ship.
4 Basic requirements
4.1 Ships should formulate emergency procedures for engine room flooding, and be equipped with leak-stopping equipment and equipment suitable for the ship's conditions.
4.2 In formulating emergency procedures and emergency operations, at least the following factors should be considered.
