Scope

GB 33147-2025 is the English-translated version of 液化二甲醚钢瓶.

GB 33147-2025 specifies the requirements for the type, materials, design, manufacture, testing and inspection, marking, packaging, coating, storage and transport, design service life and factory documents of liquefied dimethyl ether steel gas cylinders.

It applies to refillable welded steel cylinders used at ambient temperatures of -40 °C to 60 °C, with a nominal working pressure of 1.6 MPa and a nominal volume of up to 150 L, for liquefied dimethyl ether conforming to GB/T 25035.

The document sets out cylinder models and parameters, chemical composition and mechanical properties of the steel, wall thickness calculation and accessories, the manufacture of heads and shells, welding and heat treatment, and a test and inspection regime covering radiographic testing of welds, individual and batch inspection, pressure cycling, repeat inspection and type testing, with a normative annex on steel stamp marking and informative formats for the certificate of conformity and quality certificate.

It replaces GB/T 33147-2016 and is now a mandatory standard; the new edition adds the allowable filling weight parameter, detailed chemical composition limits, a minimum nominal wall thickness, heat treatment qualification, a pressure cycling test, unique traceable cylinder numbers with electronically readable marking and a manufacturer traceability website, and changes the burst pressure, batch size and type test requirements.

It was issued on 2 December 2025 and takes effect on 1 July 2026. Classification: ICS 23.020.30, CCS J 74. The document runs to 31 pages, delivered complete in English translation.

Foreword

This document is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020, Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of standardizing documents.

This document replaces GB/T 33147-2016, Liquefied dimethyl ether steel gas cylinders. In addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes compared with GB/T 33147-2016 are as follows:

a) the modification serial number has been changed from Roman letters to Chinese capital numerals (see 5.1; 5.1 of the 2016 edition);

b) the cylinder models have been changed (see 5.2; 5.2 of the 2016 edition), and the model parameter "allowable filling weight" and requirements for indoor placement of cylinders have been added (see 5.2);

c) detailed requirements for the chemical composition of the main cylinder material have been added (see 6.2);

d) the requirement for the yield-to-tensile ratio of the main cylinder material has been changed (see 6.3.2; 6.2.2 of the 2016 edition);

e) requirements for the appraisal of design documents have been added (see 7.1.1);

f) the requirements for the assembly form of heads and cylindrical shell have been changed (see 7.1.2; 7.1.1 of the 2016 edition);

g) a requirement for the minimum nominal wall thickness has been added (see 7.2.5);

h) a requirement for the consistency of the shroud and foot ring materials with the shell material has been added (see 7.3.2);

i) the requirement for the specification of the valve boss of the cylinder has been changed (see 7.3.4; 7.3.4 of the 2016 edition), and requirements for the dimensions of the valve boss have been added (see 7.3.4);

j) a requirement on the standard to be applied for welding procedure qualification has been added (see 8.4.1.1);

k) requirements for heat treatment equipment, procedure qualification and requalification have been added (see 8.5);

l) a requirement for the sampling quantity for radiographic testing has been added (see 9.1.3);

m) a requirement for confirmation of the hydrostatic test results of cylinders by the cylinder supervisory inspection body has been added (see 9.2.2.3);

n) the requirement for the number of gas tightness tests has been changed (see 9.2.3.2; 9.2.3.2 of the 2016 edition);

o) the requirement for the quantity of cylinders in an inspection batch has been changed (see 9.3.1.2; 9.3.1.2 of the 2016 edition);

p) the requirement for the ratio of the mandrel diameter to the measured specimen thickness for the cylinder material has been changed (see 9.3.3.5; 9.3.3.3.2 of the 2016 edition);

q) the requirements for hydraulic burst pressure and volumetric expansion rate have been changed (see 9.3.4; 9.3.4 of the 2016 edition);

r) requirements for batch checks of dimensions, weight and volume have been added (see 9.3.5 and 9.3.6);

s) requirements for testing, confirmation and recording of electronically readable marking have been added (see 9.3.7 and 10.1.7);
