This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part

1.Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 31420-2015 "Test Methods for Toxic and Hazardous Substances in Flame Retardant Clothing", GB/T 31419-2015 "Fire Escape Surfaces GB/T 31009-2020 "Requirements and test methods for limited substances in foot protection shoes (boots)". The document is based on GB/T 31420-2015, integrating the contents of GB/T 31419-2015 and GB/T 31009-2020, and adding Compared with GB/T 31420-2015, in addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the toxic, hazardous and limited substances requirements for other protective equipment products have been revised. In addition to the dynamic, the main technical changes are as follows:

--- Changed the scope of the standard (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of GB/T 31420-2015);

1 Scope

GB 31420-2025 is the Chinese national standard on requirements for toxic, hazardous and restricted substances in personal protective equipment, in the field of environment and health protection, safety. It carries no /T suffix, which in the Chinese system means compliance is mandatory: a product or a practice within its scope has to meet it to be lawfully made, sold or carried out in China. It was issued on 30 June 2025 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 July 2026. Classification: ICS 13.340.01, CCS C73. 3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 12903 and the following apply to this document.

3.1 Chemicals that have inherently hazardous properties and may cause harm to health or the environment.
