GB 27898.5-2011 is the English-translated version of 固定消防给水设备第5部分：消防双动力给水设备.

GB 27898.5-2011 is Part 5 of the Chinese series on fixed water supply equipment used for fire-protection and covers dual power equipment, in which electric motor pump sets are combined with engine pump sets (diesel, petrol or steam) under a common control cabinet to supply the fire-fighting pipe network continuously.

It specifies terms and definitions, classification into electric motor plus diesel engine (code DC) and electric motor plus other engine (code DT) combinations with a model designation system, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, nameplates and operating instructions, packaging, transport and storage; similar dual power equipment may use it for reference.

The requirements set a rated working pressure of at least 0.3 MPa and a rated flow rate of at least 10 L/s, and cover components, marking, manual, remote and automatic starting including automatic engine start on mains failure with at least 6 start attempts, pressure deviation within 0.05 MPa and speed deviation within 0.5% for engine pump sets, overspeed shutdown at 120% and alarms, 6 h running and 6 consecutive starts without fault, engines, battery packs, a fuel tank for 4 h running, chargers, the pressure maintaining and backflow preventing valve and the control cabinet with dual power supply and 4 h battery standby.

Chapters 5, 7 and 8 are mandatory and the remainder recommended; it is the first edition, many requirements referring to GB 27898.1-2011 and GB 27898.2-2011. It was issued on 30 December 2011 and has been in force since 1 June 2012.
