Scope
GB 21551.4-2010 is the English-translated version of 家用和类似用途电器的抗菌、除菌、净化功能 电冰箱的特殊要求.
GB 21551.4-2010 is Part 4 of the GB 21551 series and gives the particular requirements for household and similar refrigerators, refrigerator-freezers and freezers that have an antibacterial function or are fitted with an odour removal device; it is used together with the general requirements of GB 21551.1-2008, and all its technical content is mandatory.
It requires an antibacterial rate of at least 90% against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli for the refrigerator or its main antibacterial components (contact time 18 h to 24 h), a mould resistance grade of 0 to 1 for mould-proof components, and an adsorption or decomposition rate of at least 90% for methyl mercaptan and trimethylamine, besides toxicological tests on new materials.
The cleaning device may release no more than 0.10 mg/m3 of ozone and 5 µW/cm2 of ultraviolet radiation 5 cm around the cabinet, and any ultraviolet device must stop when the door is opened.
Test methods cover toxicology, antibacterial performance of materials to GB 21551.2-2010, the odour removal test in the closed running cabinet with calculation of the removal rate, and ozone and ultraviolet leakage measurements; the instructions must state the antibacterial rate, mould resistance grade and the name of the odour removal device.
