GB 15930 is the product standard for the dampers that close a ventilation duct when fire reaches it, and for the ones that stay open to vent smoke. It classifies them by function and fire resistance, sets the nominal dimensions and the model designation, then the construction, the closing mechanism and its thermal or electrical release, the leakage and the fire resistance in terms of integrity and, where required, insulation, together with the operating cycles, the test methods and the inspection rules. A damper that fails to close breaches a fire compartment through its own ductwork, which is why it is mandatory. Issued on 28 November 2024, in force since 1 March 2026, replacing GB 15930-2007.
