Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part

1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents". Drafting. This document replaces YY/T 1488-2016 "Tongue Image Information Acquisition Equipment". Compared with YY/T 1488-2016, the only changes are structural adjustments and rewriting. Aside from the logical changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

1 Scope

YY/T 1488 standardises the camera rig behind computerised tongue diagnosis. It specifies the requirements for tongue image information acquisition equipment and describes the corresponding test methods. Tongue inspection is one of the four classical diagnostic methods of Chinese medicine, and turning it into data means fixing the things that make an image comparable: illumination, colour reproduction, geometry and repeatability. Without those controlled, two devices photographing the same tongue produce different colours and therefore different conclusions. It belongs to the YY/T series on traditional Chinese medicine instruments alongside the electroacupuncture and cupping standards. For a manufacturer of tongue diagnosis systems, including those feeding AI analysis software, this is the Chinese standard the equipment has to meet.

3 Terms and Definitions
