Scope

QC/T 218-2017 is the English-translated version of 汽车用转向管柱上组合开关技术条件.

QC/T 218-2017 covers the combination switch on a car's steering column, the assembly of switches that control its lights, signals and other electrical parts, and gives its requirements, test methods and inspection rules.

Clause 3 separates the plain switch from the electrical one, whose circuit contains electronic components, and the active electrical one, with analog amplifier circuits, switching power supplies or microprocessor-based controllers.

Clause 4 holds the operating sound of each gear to 65 dB(A) and contact chattering below 30 ms, calls for a contact temperature rise test wherever a switch is rated above 1 A, and after the durability test allows the conversion force or torque to move by no more than 40%.

Clause 5 details the bench work, from the dust test with Arizona ash, 20 cycles of 6 s of dust-laden air and a 15 min pause, to the salt spray and cyclic damp heat runs of GB/T 28046.4-2011.

It replaces QC/T 218-1996, was issued on 9 January 2017 and has applied since 1 July 2017.
