Foreword

This document was drafted in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of standardizing documents".

This Standard replaces NB/T 47009-2010 "Low-alloy steel forgings for low temperature pressure equipment". Compared with NB/T 47009-2010, the main technical changes are as follows.

- CANCEL the content regarding design pressure and design temperature in the scope;

- ADD 06Ni9D alloy steel forgings for use at -196 °C;

- REFINE the relevant requirements for ordering information;

- ADD the requirements for macroscopic examination;

- MODIFY the KV2 impact test value for 08Ni3D forgings at -100 °C to 60 J;

- RAISE the quality grade for ultrasonic testing of steel forgings;

- MODIFY the acceptance criteria for weld repairs. Annex A of this Standard is normative.

1 Scope

This Standard specifies the terms and definitions, ordering information, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking and quality certificate for alloy steel forgings for low temperature pressure equipment.

3 Terms and definitions

For the purpose of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

3.1 Hollow forging

An axisymmetric hollow forging with an axial length L greater than its outer diameter D, as shown in Figure 1 a). t is the nominal thickness.

3.2 Ring forging

An axisymmetric hollow forging with an axial length L less than or equal to its outer diameter D, as shown in Figure 1 b). The smaller of L and t is the nominal thickness.

3.3 Disk forging

An axisymmetric solid forging with an axial length L less than or equal to its outer diameter D, as shown in Figure 1 c). L is the nominal thickness.

3.4 Bowl forging

An axisymmetric forging with a concave cross-section and an axial length H less than or equal to its outer diameter D, as shown in Figure 1 d). The greater of t1 and t2 is the nominal thickness.

3.5 Neck flange forging

An axisymmetric hollow forging with two outer diameters along its axis, as shown in Figure 1 e). The greater of t1 and t2 is the nominal thickness.

5 Technical requirements

5.1 Melting method

Steel for forgings shall be killed steel melted by electric furnace or oxygen converter, with secondary refining outside the furnace and vacuum treatment.

5.2 Chemical composition

5.2.1 Heat analysis

5.2.1.1 The designation and chemical composition (heat analysis) of steel for forgings shall comply with the provisions in Table 1.

5.2.1.2 Upon the purchaser's request, it may specify the minimum limit for nickel content for 16MnD and 20MnMoD steel.

5.2.2 Product analysis

The purchaser may carry out product analysis. The permissible deviations of the analysis results (excluding phosphorus and sulfur) from the values specified in Table 1 shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 222. The permissible positive deviation for phosphorus is 0.003 %, and the permissible positive deviation for sulfur is 0.002 %.

7 Inspection rules

7.2.2 Tensile test specimens shall be the R4 type specimen specified in GB/T 228.1. If sampling dimensions are restricted, agreed upon between the supplier and the purchaser, the R7 type specimen specified in GB/T 228.1 may be used.

7.2.3 Impact test specimens shall be standard-size Charpy V-notch specimens specified in GB/T 229.

7.3 Sampling quantity

7.3.1 Chemical analysis

One specimen shall be taken for chemical analysis per melting heat number.

7.3.2 Tensile and impact

7.3.2.1 For forgings with a single-piece mass less than or equal to 3500 kg after heat treatment, take one set of specimens (one for room-temperature tensile and three for impact).

7.3.2.2 For forgings with a single-piece mass greater than 3500 kg after heat treatment, take two sets of specimens (each set consists of one for room-temperature tensile and three for impact), with the two sets of specimens spaced at 180°. If the forging length exceeds 1.5 times its diameter, one set of specimens shall be taken at each end of the forging, spaced at 180°.

7.3.3 Macroscopic examination

One specimen shall be taken for macroscopic examination per batch.

7.4 Sampling direction

For forgings (excluding bar forgings), tangential specimens should be taken; if tangential specimens cannot be prepared, longitudinal or radial specimens shall be taken. For bar forgings, longitudinal specimens should be taken.

7.5 Sampling location

7.5.1 For hollow forgings and ring forgings, specimens shall be taken from the end of the forging, at one-half of the wall thickness. See Figure 2 a) and Figure 2 b).

7.5.2 For disk forgings, specimens shall be taken from the end of the forging; for disk forgings with a diameter less than or equal to 350 mm, specimens shall be taken at the outer edge; for disk forgings with a diameter greater than 350 mm, specimens shall be taken inward at a position at least 20 mm from the edge. See Figure 2 c).

7.5.3 For bowl forgings, specimens shall be taken from the open end of the forging, at one-half of the wall thickness. See Figure 2 d). […]
