NB/T 20049-2011 is the Chinese energy industry standard that describes the qualification testing of fire stops for cable penetrations.

It sets the principles and the procedures for testing the performance of the seals installed where cables pass through a fire barrier, and it gives the qualification criteria for seals of different materials and construction.

Seals meeting it are intended for nuclear power plants, and they may also be used at other nuclear facilities. The cables concerned include power, control and instrumentation cables as well as other types.

IEEE 317, ASTM E84 and ASTM D2863 are quoted. It supersedes EJ/T 674-1992. Issued on 1 July 2011, it has applied since 1 October 2011.
