Scope
NB/T 10745-2021 is the English-translated version of 选煤用浮选药剂通用技术条件.
NB/T 10745-2021 sets the general technical conditions for flotation reagents used in coal preparation, including collectors, frothers and combined collector-frother products.
Beyond general requirements it lists the quality indices and the methods for checking them: odour, appearance, stability, density, water content by Karl Fischer titration, mechanical impurities, freezing point, closed-cup flash point, kinematic viscosity, volatile organic compounds and benzene content.
Inspection rules distinguish factory and type inspection and define batches, sampling and the decision rule, and a final clause covers marking, packaging, transport and storage.
Reagent manufacturers, coal preparation plants and testing laboratories use it for production control, incoming inspection and storage. Handling safety of the same reagents is dealt with in NB/T 10744. Issued on 16 November 2021, it has applied since 16 February 2022.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Flotation reagent
Agents used to effect or facilitate the flotation process.
3.2 Frother
In the flotation process, it is used to control the size of the bubbles and maintain the stability of the foam.
3.3 Collector
The agent added to the slurry to improve the adhesion between solid particles and air bubbles.
3.4 Collector-frother
It has the properties of both collector and foaming agent, and can selectively act on the mineral surface to make it hydrophobic in the process of coal slime flotation.
It can also orientate adsorption and arrangement on the gas-liquid interface, reduce the gas-liquid surface tension, and promote the formation of a large number of moderately sized gas in the slurry.
A certain stability of the bubbles, to prevent the merger of the bubbles, to ensure that the mineralized bubbles float up to form a flotation agent that scrapes out the foam layer.
