JB/T 8973-2011 is the English-translated version of 增安型无刷励磁同步电动机防爆技术要求.

JB/T 8973-2011 is the Chinese machinery industry standard on the explosion protection requirements for increased safety (Ex e) brushless excitation synchronous motors.

It specifies their technical requirements, test methods and inspection rules, and applies to such motors used in Zone 2 explosive gas atmospheres.

It is based on GB 3836.1-2010 and GB 3836.3-2010 for explosion protection, on GB 755-2008 and GB/T 1029-2005 (test procedures for synchronous machines), and on GB 4208-2008 and GB/T 4942.1-2006 for degrees of protection.

It replaces JB/T 8973-1999. Issued on 20 December 2011 by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT Announcement 2011 No. 43), it has been in force since 1 April 2012. Classification: ICS 29.260.20, CCS K 25.
