JB/T 4290-2011 is a recommended Chinese machinery industry standard giving the technical requirements for high speed tool steel forgings. Besides those requirements it provides the test methods, the inspection rules, and the marking and quality documents for the forgings. The products it applies to are tool forgings of high speed tool steel made by drawing out, or by repeated upsetting and drawing out. Forgings of new high speed tool steels other than the grades named in the standard may also be handled by reference to it. Among the standards it quotes are GB/T 224, GB/T 230.1, GB/T 1814, GB/T 9943 and JB/T 4009. Its Chinese classification is J32 and its international classification 77.140.85. It replaces JB/T 4290-1999.
