1 Scope

This standard specifies the marking content, marking pattern, marking method and size, paint color of valve of various general-purpose valves.

This standard applies to all types of general-purpose valves.

GB/T 12220 General valve - Signs (GB/T 12220-1989, idt ISO 5209:1977)

3 Signs and marking methods

3.1 Content of sign

The outer surface of the valve’s pressure bearing body shall be marked with a permanent sign in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 12220. The contents of the sign shall include the valve’s drift diameter, pressure code or working pressure code, material grade or code, manufacturer name or trademark, furnace number (casting valve). The valve with flow requirements shall be marked with the arrow of the flow direction of the medium.

3.2 Marking method of sign

3.2.1

When the valve body is formed by casting or die-casting method, its sign shall be casted or die-casted on the valve body together with the valve body.

3.2.2

When the shape of the valve body is formed by the die-forging method, the sign may be marked on the valve body by stamping, in addition to the die- forging or die-casting together with the valve body. When the shape of the valve […]
