The first part of the HG/T 4550 series, HG/T 4550.1-2013 is a recommended Chinese chemical industry standard for the determination of cadmium in waste chemicals by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrophotometry. It describes the principle of the technique and covers the reagents, the instruments and equipment, the processing of the sample, the analytical steps and the calculation of the result. Because the graphite furnace route is the sensitive one, this part serves laboratories working at low cadmium levels in discarded chemical material. It is used alongside GB/T 6682-2008, HG/T 3696.2 and HG/T 3696.3. Issued on 17 October 2013, it has applied since 1 March 2014.
