Nitric acid spills are the subject of HG/T 4335.3-2012, the third part of the Chinese chemical industry series on acid spill treatment and disposal. It sets out the physical and chemical properties of nitric acid and its hazards, the emergency measures to be taken once a leak has occurred, the method for handling the spill site and the method for disposing of the leaked acid. The part applies to leaks that happen during the production, storage, use, handling and transport of nitric acid. Four documents are cited in it: GB 12268-2005, GB 20266, GB/T 24536-2009 and AQ 6102. Issued on 28 December 2012, it has applied since 1 June 2013.
